MTV
  • Who is the target audience and why?
12-24. the average age of the viewer is 21.
  • What type of music does the channel play and why?
Pop, R&B
  • Identify 3-5 examples of artists that feature on a regular basis
Rihanna, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Rita Ora,

4) How is the channel used as a form of branding?

5) How does the logo appeal to the target audience? (Consider the colours and connotations, size of fonts, style of logo)
a) big and bold so you can recognise it.

Why do you think MTV is broken down into different channels (base, hits, dance, rocks, classic?
so MTV can aim at lots of different audiences by playing different songs on different channels so they can boost their popularity. If there was only one channel there would be a smaller audience and would have to merge the different types of genres which would mean less music for each fan.

Why do you music channels are important in appealing to a target audience?
So they can expect the songs that they want to hear to come on rather then a different artist with a different genre which they dont like.

Why do you think there are a variety of music channels?
Because there are lots of different genres of music which can appeal to different people so with a different show for each genre they can play more music from one genre which will increase the popularity of the channel and have more hope for the songs that they want to hear to come on.

What have you learnt from analysing music channels and how will it help you with your own production?

  1. This post demonstrates a basic understanding of how music channels appeal to an audience. You have identified a variety of music channels, but you have not focused on the target audience in enough detail.
