Copyright 8

Copyright

Copyright is a legal concept designed by most governments ensuring that the original piece of work stays exclusive and doesn't have the rights to be copied. It also gives the copyright holder the right to be credited for the work. Its used in the music industry to make sure other artists don't steal their work or make a better copy and try to exploit the original artist.
We had to apply for copyright to the artist's record label so we could use the song for educational purposes. This is so when we make the music video we don't publish it and try to get money instead of Universal getting it. In order to email them i had to find the exact address to email it to so that i had a chance of getting a reply. I search Nina Nesbitt's record label which is Universal and emailed a request for our group to use 'The Apple Tree' to record a music video. The email address which is info@umusic.com. So far we haven't got an email from the record label so we shall email it again until we get a response.

Dear copyright holder,
We are a group of A Level student’s from West Hatch High School, writing to request your permission for the song ‘The Apple Tree’ by Nina Nesbitt with your permission, we would create a music video for this song, which would part of our coursework.
The song would only be used in an educational context, viewed only by our media class and OCR examination’s officer. It will not be released to a large audience. The audience and your company would of course, be recognised throughout and a copyright notice may be added to our projects if you wish. In this case, you may send us this information.
We look forward in hearing from you,
Kind regards

  1. This post demonstrates a good understanding of why music censorship is important to apply for, but aim to reference your research.

Include your research, once you have received it
