The purpose of a Digipak is to promote the album and the artist. It tells the audience the songs which they are publishing in the album. In order for lots of people to know that their is an album on sale, the digipak needs to be eye catching. It also needs lots of advertising so that people will know that their album is coming out so that they can buy it. It will not only attract the primary audience but the secondary audience aswell. In addition to the digipak their sometimes is promotional materials that could be booklets of posters. This will help promote other projects that the artist may have outstanding.

The difference between a CD album and a digipak is that their are pictures inside the CD case, this has more images that shows the audience what the artist relates to and lets you have a closer look into the eyes of the artist, it also is a patented version of a CD album.
